Course: Public sector as material for design
The course "Public Sector as Material for Design" is an elective course (attendance once a week for four months), and focused on the role of designers when visualizing and engaging with broader contexts, particularly within the context of the public sector. This course examined how designers can apply their skills and methodologies to tackle complex challenges faced by government agencies, public institutions, and the wider society.
Taks: Explore a topic/problem related to the public sector, deliver a narrative about the topic and an object that creates discussion around the topic.
We used the five days we had available to talk with relevant external parties related to the topic we had chosen for greater understanding and insight before we moved on to the materialization itself. We dedicated a significant amount of time to gaining insights, as we chose to work with a complex and unfamiliar topic. During the five days we worked closely together on all tasks, sharing the responsibility equally, with both Sunniva and I being equally involved in the object and the visualization. We worked individually on certain aspects and frequently presented them to each other for feedback. This project demonstrates a lower level of methodological approach due to time constraints, but I still wanted to include it as it showcases a broad range of skills.
